Ah, what few weeks it ihas been.  The boys are growing up way too fast, wife is wonderful, and I have been living life as it should be: at its fullest.  I guess...

Its hard to believe just about a year ago I was posting the announcement of the birth of our second child.  So much as happened, and I am not sure I remember what life was like back then.  But Gus (short for August) is indeed almost one.  He's almost walking and has taken to getting a kick out of putting things in my mouth.  What fun.  He's eating real food, and is "off the bottle now."  He's had his share of health problems, a few I have shared here-- his fainting spells and staff infection, but also prety bad acid refulx, which we have had to give him two types of medicine for-- one for spitting up an done for the acid.  But he's getting past that, and is growing every day.  How quickly they grow.

And speaking of quickly growing up, James, the elder by 15 months, has just discovered a new tool for communicating, that kind humorous, releiving, and well, darn right annoying: shaking his head "No."  What used to be easy, he's now discovered a new way of protesting.  While it is a step up from the tantrums, it provides its own challenges.  See, one thing about James is that he's a bit slow in starting to talk.  He's a terribly smart kid, and has no problem communicating, but hasn't had much success in verbalizing.   He's been surviving on grunting, pointing, and imitating sounds (a train is "oo oo" and a fire truck is "eeeooo  eeeooo".)  He's getting better, and is saying new words daily, but a bit behind.  And he's terribly social, and loves to throw things away.  A great way to entertain him while out (and not it is too busy) is to have him throw things away for you.  I could go on...

Virginia Mommy, is doing great, too.  On a kick to get healthy and is quickly surpassing me.  She's going to run her first 5k at the end of October.  Like usual, she's as busy as can be, momming and wifing all she can.  She takes the kids out a lot, and stays involved everywhere.  Its hard to beleive we've been married almost four years now.

Me.  I am going to take the LSAT next weekend, and have been busy studying.  Its been awhile since college, and getting brain back into shape has been time consuming.  But good.  I look forward to when that is done, and beginning law school, wherever that means.  I also look forward to be able go to bed at 10 and have my weekends back.  OK, so I will never have my weekends back, but that's not a bad thing.  There's few things I'd rather do than spend time with the kids, and for the next 3-5 years, this will seem like a cakewalk.

Anyway, that's that.  Life is good.

I Wonder What Would Happen If...

...Republicans would stand up more for the principles they say they maintain.

...the media would recognize they have a bias, and then act then to actually report the news rather than give their opinions on it.

...the left would recognize how morally empty they are.

...Nancy Polosi and Harry Reid would actually do something about corruption.

...Republicans (Conservatives) actually gained a viable and actionable majority.

...those intimately invovled in the war debate took a step back and argued actually what is best for Iraq and us, not their political careers.

...politicians, in general, would work for the betterment of their constituents rather than their policitcal careers.

...people would actually view sex with respect, rather than as a "right" in pursuing happiness.

...people might actually rely on their own efforts to get ahead.

...our military were to actually fight a war to win it.

Imagine...

Some Random Thoughts

Life is great.  Isn't it?  While we all have our troubles, the very fact that we get up everyday and have a chance to do something different, whether we take it or not, is wonderful.

Some folks out there are so blind or manipulative it is sickening.  What is even worse is that some fall for what they say.  Look at the media, or various professors/teachers in schools.  They, educators, are worse because they prey on the young and impressionable.  They take a position of power and, more importantly, trust, and use it to enforce their own beliefs, which often are extreme.  This helps no one, except the professor.  The student is used, the populace is cheated, and the professor gets to puff himself up.

Evolution vs. Creationism is much more about who we are than it is about evidence.

Atheists can be nasty people, but so can Christians.

Insurance companies, in my opinion, are one of the biggest challenges to our economy.

And family is wonderful, all around.  Enjoy your families.  They're the best thing you have!
